There are numerous reasons why someone may experience elbow, wrist and hand pain. At your initial appointment, one of our highly trained physical therapists will conduct a physical evaluation and ask you questions about your health history and symptoms. At Hardin Wellness Center we get to the root cause of your pain! A personalized treatment plan will then be designed specifically for you and your recovery.
Strains and sprains to the elbow, wrist, or hand can also result in pain.
There are many different forms of arthritis, but it is typically caused by repetitive motions or an injury that impacts the cartilage in the joints of the elbow, wrist, or hand.
Elbow bursitis can occur for a number of reasons. Leaning on the tip of the elbow for long periods of time on hard surfaces, such as a tabletop, may cause the bursa to swell. Certain conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout, are associated with elbow bursitis. Occasionally, the bursa sac may become infected without an obvious injury to the skin.
The muscles and tendons become sore from excessive strain causing "tennis elbow or golfer's elbow" due to swelling or tearing of the tendons that bend your wrist backward away from your palm. It's caused by repetitive motion of the forearm muscles, which attach to the outside of your elbow.
Carpel Tunnel Syndrome is very common and is caused typically by a pinched nerve in the wrist resulting in numbness and tingling in the hand.
This condition involves pressure or stretching of the ulnar nerve (also known as the “funny bone” nerve). Numbness and tingling in the hand and fingers are common symptoms of cubital tunnel syndrome.
